Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked Genevieve Goffman to share a taste of her taste on Perfectly Imperfect.
Genevieve Goffman is a NYC-based interdisciplinary artist, best known for her 3D printed sculptural work which has been featured in Nylon, Spike Art Mag, and Forever Mag. Her striking vignettes draw from an extensive knowledge of history and architecture, and a deep love for the fantasy genre. The immersive and utopic fantasy world sheās created has made her one of my favorite artists to follow. Following the opening of her recent show, Espace Maurice and Inpatient Press published The Triumph of a Lonely Place- Genevieveās part art book/part fiction novella, a ācoming of age story of the struggle between regression and acceptance, a vanishing suburb and an encompassing wilderness all kindled by the flame of an industrial disaster.ā If youāre in NYC, you can attend her book launch at Russian Samovar on April 25th. Lucky for us, Genevieveās here to tell us what sheās been into.Ā

š» screens
Maybe the more screens you have the closer you are to god. Having a burner phone is life saving if you leave your phone somewhere and you need to repost a photo you are tagged in on Instagram. My house currently has five monitors, two switches, a kindle, four camera screens, and normally around 3 phones in it. I hope to keep accumulating more.Ā
šŖ„ Brushing my hair
My mom has always been on my case about brushing my hair. It turns out she was right. it does make you look better and it is soothing.
š° Fantasy novels with strong world building and compelling storylineĀ
There is a real crisis in fantasy literature where the only stuff getting published is smut. I hate it. I love fantasy. I listen to fantasy novels in the background when I am working. It's really upsetting when you are trying to hear a story and it turns out itās just gross and horny. I like these two series a lot for transcending this trend to create compelling worlds. I would recommend The Mirror Visitor Quartet by french author Christelle Dablos, each book in series presents an exquisitely crafted society with strong Philip Pullman deco punk aesthetics. I would also recommend the Tasymin Muir Locked Tomb Series. It's like Garth Nixās Abhorsen books but for adults and funny.
š§³ vintage purses by roberta di camerino
Giuliana Camerino was a Venetian fashion designerĀ who founded Roberta Di Camerino, the only big Italian fashion house to be founded in Venice. (one of my favorite places on earth). The designs produced by the company while she was alive are really fun and special, particularly her work in velvet and leather. After her death the company really went downhill but you can find a lot of the vintage purses online and sometimes other clothes online for cheap because not very many people have heard of her.
š The people who work at Baccaro
The people who work at Baccaro are the nicest people in the city. I really enjoy going there. They were not even mad at me when I almost choked to death on a piece of steak a few months ago. I also like the squid ink pasta.
š» beer
I like Tecate, Perroni and modelos the best. I also like the green garden drink at sundown in ridgewood.
š°ļø Steampunk
I like trains and blimps. I think New York would be better if it was more steampunk.
