Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked River Moon to share a taste of her taste on Perfectly Imperfect.
River Moon (aka Saint Deepthroat) is a Cape Town-born, Los Angeles-based DJ, musician, and one of the iconic memers (along w/ Patia and Laina Berry) behind the popular & prolific Instagram account Patiasfantasyworld. Over the last few years she’s collaborated with legends like LSDXOXO and Umru, slayed a Boiler Room set, dropped her debut album Martyr, and released a slew of rave-ready bangers such as 10 BAD BITCHES + MOLLY. Back in February, River teamed up with Thug Pop for a reimagination of “On The Run” for Kelela’s RAVE:N remix album, and in this summer she’s playing Sonar Festival in Barcelona with PI favorites like Club Cringe, Jessie Ware, + VTSS, and a bunch of other great DJs. Lucky for us, River is here to tell us what she’s been into.
Without further ado

🍜 Thai Diner lobster omelette
Everybody’s always talking about quiet luxury when it comes to fashion, but rarely when it comes to food. Thai diner is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC! Where else can you get a lobster omelette in true most creamy, rich, decadent sauce at lunchtime for $30? That’s quite, quiet luxury.
🛌 10 Hour YouTube rumble space sounds
It sounds almost dystopian to say, a lot of us can’t do anything without YouTube or noise to drown out all the noise we experience in one day. I go to sleep with this on in the back and the visuals either on a projector or dim lit laptop screen.
✨ Rebranding
I feel like everyone should do their yearly rebrand. Not in a corny way “new year, new me” way. I look at life through the lens of a popstar. Popstars I grew up listening to had different looks for different eras. That’s what I base my version of rebranding on. Life is performance. Performance is art. Art is self. LOL
👩🏽💻 Working in cafes
I typed this as I was working in a coffee shop. Idk, there’s something really under appreciated about working in a coffee shop. You can people-watch and it’s meditative af. Two of my favorite things in one. Plus a little drink and a snack whenever you want.
🎙️ Subtle Urban Sex Appeal Podcast
This is my Red Scare - but better and black. I love this duo so much. They bring such a refreshing and humorous take on current events and pop culture. They’ll give you eyebrow raises, laughing fits, can’t-believe-they-said-that moments and more. 10/10.
🎵 The Prodigy Fat of the land album
This is one of my favorite albums of all time! I listen to it at least twice a week. I recommend anyone who wants to feel like an action hero (or villain) for the next couple hours to listen to it. I miss albums like these that feel like blockbuster soundtracks. The brutal rave production, the in-your-face vocals, the mix of underground grit with a high-gloss pop finish on top… bring back cinematic rave music!
🎮 Nintendo Wii
This is still Nintendo’s best gaming console and it would’ve lasted longer if they kept releasing good games. This kept my young, lazy ass in shape! It’s so fun at parties! I love the idea of staying active while having fun. I agree with Kelly Osborne (in the sense that) being in the gym is boring as hell… we need a Nintendo gym!!! I’d actually go.
🩸The Blade (1998) Blood Rave scene
I think this is a world I’ve always lived in and every gig I do, I try to recreate the energy I felt through the screen.
💃🏽 Joseline Hernandez
I think Joseline is a star! She should be on every tv show. She’s one of the boldest people I know and I’m so honored she sees me.
Bonus recommendation for paid subs from River below! 🥾???
