Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked Devon Ross to share a taste of her taste on Perfectly Imperfect.
Devon Ross is a London-based model, actress, and musician. Having been featured in campaigns for Vivienne Westwood and Mulberry, and seen walking the runway for Valentino, Erdem, Simone Rocha and more, Devon has made a name for herself and definitely lives up to British Vogue's praise as “the coolest model in fashion right now.” In 2022 Devon made her TV debut with HBO and A24’s Irma Vep, starring alongside Alicia Vikander, Carrie Brownstein, Adria Arjona, and Byron Bowers. At the premiere Devon met the show’s legendary soundtrack composer, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, and they bonded over a “shared devotion to rock & roll.” After hearing some early tracks such as “Swim”, Thurston offered to release her fantastic debut EP Oxford Gardens via The Daydream Library Series. Lucky for us, Devon is here to tell us what she’s been into.

📿 Personalized Shrines
When traveling it’s easy to feel like you are never settled, luckily I’ve figured out the hack of a lifetime. Bring all of your favorite things, photos of people and things that make you happy, books, trinkets, records. Make sure they are all in a separate suitcase that’s really heavy and every time you go to the airport, TSA makes you take it out on the floor, so that it’s as inconvenient as possible. For example, everywhere I go I bring a photo of Charlie Christian, a Beatles record, a Rimbaud Book, little stringed beads and arrange them like a shrine.
🎧 Headphones in the bath
Life can be stressful. When you want to unwind, I highly recommend you get in the bath, put headphones on (with caution, works best with wireless) and play Gram Parsons. A speaker also works but something about the music going straight into my ears in the bath is kind of life changing.
🫖 Decorating
Everyone has stuff. I have stuff , you have stuff. But how can we tell what’s your stuff and what’s mine. Well, if we both decorate our little trinkets… no one's stuff gets mixed up! Honestly that’s not why I decorate everything in my life but I feel like I need a justification for the amount of decorating that’s going on around here.
📽️ The Beatles “Get Back” film, on loop
This is usually a nightly occurrence for me, and I highly recommend this for your general well-being, and happiness. Start Get back, watch the whole thing, and by the time your favorite boys are done playing on the roof, start it all over again. It's so long, you’ve already forgotten how it starts and everything is new again.
🎵 Apple Music the game
This one’s important. Go on your music platform of choice, play an artist you like and then click on a recommended artist that you don’t know. Repeat this process over and over until you are satisfied.
🎸 Turbo Rat Pedal
It’s like the Rat but it's one turbo more. Have you ever wanted to just not even touch the guitar and cool noises come out? The Turbo Rat is for you.
