Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked Farheen and Ginger of MGNA Crrrta to share a taste of their taste on Perfectly Imperfect.
MGNA Crrrta is a New York City-based electropop duo comprised of Ginger Scott and Farheen Khan, who have probably played more Perfectly Imperfect shows than any one else. I fell in love with their Kesha meets Crystal Castles sound after hearing “Girl Party” and “iWanna” on their debut EP Constitution 2. It was clear that they were throwing ideas at the wall in a way that was creating magic, looking back on the era that soundtracked my High School dances with fresh eyes and a sense of humor. This is most apparent on “JFK-LAX,” which deserves to be massive, and on their two recent singles, “@ Night” and “Ohyaaa,” which lean further into 2010s EDM. At times the electroclash-revival scene can feel bogged down by overly mysterious personalities, and I’m glad MGNA Crrrta is here to make it more fun. Catch them live with Eartheater, RXKNephew, Underscores, and more, at HERE FOR NY, a festival we’re co-presenting this weekend at Knockdown Center. Lucky for us, Ginger and Farheen are here to tell us what they’re into.
Follow Ginger and Farheen, save their recs for later, or discuss them on PI.FYI.
Without further ado

🔥 Personal heater
My feet always get cold in the middle of the night so it’s a must esp since I still haven’t gotten my in-unit out
🧖🏻♀️ Olaplex NO 3, 5, 7
I’m really scared of split ends and really good at getting products for cheap in 2024 so it’s perfect for me.
🎵 virtual self & angels and airwaves
Space music 4EVA. Insane. Have to listen every day for peace of mind and hope for music. It’s crazy bc these are both side projects from porter robinson & blink 182 respectively which only increases my love for them.
🎮 Sims 3 Island Expansion Pack
By far the best expansion pack in all of the Sims. I love the island itself and the fact that you can live on a working house boat. I also always cheat myself money so I can open a fancy resort. The best part though is becoming a mermaid and finding lost islands to build all your mansions on.

🥛 Wendy’s 4 for 4 + Frosty
Shes always been perfect I don’t have much else to say. Wish people saw her worth like I did Tbh. Don’t forget to grab a spoon for the frosty
📚 The Stripper Diaries by Trisha Paytas
My dear friend Goldilux gifted me with this book for my birthday last year! It’s a collection of short essays by Trisha Paytas during her time in LA working as a stripper. I read an except every night before bed to help me diffuse and relax. (I prefer to take melatonin before reading so that while I’m reading I’m slowly taken out. Almost like I’m being sucked into her world)
👽 Fearing alien abduction
I don’t know why I stopped having this issue but all throughout my childhood I was really afraid of being abducted by aliens. I think after watching too many intense documentaries on Animal Planet about people sharing their experiences being abducted I thought it was a probable event that could happen. I guess I still think it could kind of happen in a way but I guess I view it similarly to how people who drive cars would view the risk of a car crash. I guess idk Lol. I just think it’s crazy that we’d be the only life out there
🎵 Jack Harlow: Lovin On Me
I was driving in LA during my show last month and I couldn’t get my phone to connect to the car so I discovered this song on the radio. KIIS 102.7 FM kept playing this track on repeat and it was so fun! I forgot how good Jack Harlow was. Put your lovin on meee babyy
