Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked Tkay Maidza to share a taste of her taste on Perfectly Imperfect.
Tkay Maidza is a Zimbabwe-born, Australia/Los Angeles-based musician who originally caught my attention back in 2020 with the second volume of her Last Year Was Weird trilogy. The fun she was having experimenting on those EPs was contagious and Iβve been a fan ever since. After a few years of writing & joining Dua Lipa on some tour dates last year, Tkay back with her first record in a long time, Sweet Justice, which further expands on the sounds sheβs been playing with, often jumping from industrial bangers like βWUACVβ (aka Woke Up And Chose Violence) right into slick funky pop tunes like βOut of Luck.β Lucky for us, Tkay is here to tell us what sheβs been into.

Australia directed A24 movie - went for a walk and saw this movie was screening.Β Had no preconceptions when entering and was absolutely freaked out and blown away. Itβs such a dope movie & concept.

Generating music and making artwork when Iβm bored. Really cool that there are so many mediums now available and this one is fast and interesting in terms of how you can manipulate its calculations with your wording and coding.
