Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked Tkay Maidza to share a taste of her taste on Perfectly Imperfect.

Tkay Maidza is a Zimbabwe-born, Australia/Los Angeles-based musician who originally caught my attention back in 2020 with the second volume of her Last Year Was Weird trilogy. The fun she was having experimenting on those EPs was contagious and I’ve been a fan ever since. After a few years of writing & joining Dua Lipa on some tour dates last year, Tkay back with her first record in a long time, Sweet Justice, which further expands on the sounds she’s been playing with, often jumping from industrial bangers like “WUACV” (aka Woke Up And Chose Violence) right into slick funky pop tunes like “Out of Luck.” Lucky for us, Tkay is here to tell us what she’s been into.

Australia directed A24 movie - went for a walk and saw this movie was screening. Had no preconceptions when entering and was absolutely freaked out and blown away. It’s such a dope movie & concept.

One of the coolest alt rappers out right now, I definitely love her creativity and range - excited to hear more.

💻 Ai

Generating music and making artwork when I’m bored. Really cool that there are so many mediums now available and this one is fast and interesting in terms of how you can manipulate its calculations with your wording and coding.

Have a new found love for this for this fitness class & club after coming off tour, it gives me a sense of balance.
