Peyton Dix is a Los Angeles-born, Brooklyn-based writer, freelance brand strategist, and in her own words, a “self-identified Silly Goose and Krisbian.” Her unique voice on social media set her apart from the beginning— her unwavering, refreshing authenticity led to her directing social media for massive names including MAC Cosmetics, InStyle Magazine, and Paper Magazine. Everything Peyton touches turns to gold, and after helping to grow the audiences of every brand she has worked for, she is shifting gears and opting to create on her own terms. Recently, Byline did a fabulous profile on her, going in-depth about her journey as a writer and her new freelance work. Lucky for us, Peyton is here to tell us what she’s been into.

💩 Getting a colonic.

I’m not a health expert, just a girl who works out in matching sets for show and frequents the farmers market every Saturday. I am a performer at best. But getting a set of colonics a few times a year has made me a new woman. I’m from Los Angeles which means I am not well up in my noggin, but my body is a “temple.” I feel less bloated and less bitchy. I feel lighter and less evil. 

If you’re in LA, this is who I both my mom and I go to. 

❌ Canceling plans

I don’t feel like it. You don’t feel like it. Normalize bailing. 

👖 The Citizens of humanity Horshoe jeans. If you’re a lesbian size up for desired fit. 

I love these jeans so much I have them in three colors. I love a uniform. It’s very Jenna Lyons. If you’re verse, these pants are for you. They are perfect to pair with an oversized button up for Fall but also lightweight and lowrise enough that your thong can sit out for Summer. They’re the perfect wide leg fit. I won’t prove it with a photo of myself, I will prove it with this video of my mother. 

🃏 SET

This is my favorite game. It’s best for 2 or more players but sometimes I play it alone because I am independent like that and too competitive for my own good. You deal out cards and look for various sets. That’s all. It’s amazing. 

🖊️ Writing it down 

I love putting my feelings on paper, it helps me to know that they’re real. Plus, I have way too many thoughts, I can’t hold all that in my head. Some things are best left in a notebook than in the body. I have an incredibly warped sense of time, so I sometimes reread journals to remind myself of what has happened in my life. And wow, there’s nothing more powerful than a preteen’s unbridled emotions and Ashley you will pay for what you did in the 5th grade. 

If I die and someone finds all of my journals please publish them, there’s some good tea in there and I’m not afraid of burning bridges in the afterlife. 

Get a good pen, find a nice notebook, and put it all down.

💍 Getting divorced

I have neither been divorced nor married but I think it’s an incredibly c*nt thing to do. My parents did it in 2008 and we’ve all been happier since. I love what happens to women when they divorce their husbands (look at Gisele Bündchen). I love watching the color return to their faces. I love when Stellas get their groove back. I love The First Wives Club. I love that one photo of AMC brand ambassador, Nicole Kidman.  

🧛 Rewatching True Blood Seasons 1-3.

Put Twilight down, we’re all adults here. True Blood has something for everyone: fairies, witches, werewolves, lesbian vampires, gay vampires, actually no straight vampires at all, orgies, christians, drugs, shifters, and Nelsan fucking Ellis. I made the grave mistake of forgetting how good this show was. Plus there’s no better opening credits theme song in HBO history (sorry Succession).

Sookie deserved the true death. Tara deserved an EMMY. Jason deserved me.

I broke my jaw a few years ago and could only drink liquids for two months. Child’s play for me because I was a soup girl long before that. But from my two months of only eating soup and smoothies, I can confirm Split Pea soup is the best soup. In this essay I will–
