Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked Water From Your Eyes to share a taste of their taste on Perfectly Imperfect.
Water From Your Eyes are a Brooklyn-based band comprised of Rachel Brown and Nate Amos. Since their 2016 debut the duo has dropped a bunch of great projects, remixed a track for Interpol, opened for Pavement on their reunion tour, and released a highly acclaimed record, Everyone’s Crushed, earlier this year. I think Rachel described their sound best as “dance punk, question mark?” and “art rock, shrug.” in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine earlier this year. Yesterday they announced a fully reworked version of their latest album featuring remixes from The Dare, Mandy Indiana, and Sword II, that drops on November 17th. If you’re in Europe you can catch them live on their upcoming tour. Lucky for us, Rachel and Nate are here to tell us what they’ve been into.
Without further ado

🎵 Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Gospel according to Tony Chad Flea and John - Californication is as good as a rock album gets.
🎵 Survivor
Survivor is the game of games and I wish to play someday. It’s also my favorite TV show and I watch it almost every night.
🐔 Popeye’s
I never ate Popeye’s before 2022 and had no idea what I was missing. The first time I ordered was like the episode of Spongebob when Squidward tries a Krabby Patty for the first time. Rachel and my roommate Steve intervened and explained that I couldn’t eat Popeye’s every day - I reluctantly agreed but I still order more often than I let on.
🧑🤝🧑 My Friends
I love spending time with my friends. It is my favorite thing to do. There is nothing better than making plans to see my friends, especially if I haven’t seen them in a long time. I also love running into my friends, I think that is the most magical thing about living in New York, you get to run into your friends everywhere you go. I love a good chat with my friends, both new and old. My favorite thing about touring is making new friends who live in different places and then getting to see them when we go back to those places. I love hearing about all of the life experiences my friends are having or have had or are aspiring to have, but it is even more special when I get to experience a little bit of life with them.
