Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked Suzy Clue to share a taste of her taste on Perfectly Imperfect.
Suzy Clue is an Albania-born, New York City-based rock musician that we’re throwing a show with this Thursday (tickets here). Joe Kerwin sent me her debut single “Remember Me” and I just couldn’t get enough of the way the quiet verses swell into a HUGE wall-of-sound during the heartbreaking chorus. She recorded the track with the legendary Dan Carey of Speedy Wunderground (Fontaines D.C., Black Midi, etc). In November Office Magazine dubbed her “the internet's newest hot emo girl" and the way she juxtaposes that persona with a loud grungy shoegaze sound feels like the makings of a rock star. Her latest single, “Holy Touch,” is a worthy follow-up and recently dropped with a music video from PI-friends Simone Films (PI #297 + PI #381). She also plays bass for Viji and and toured with them earlier this year. Lucky for us, Suzy is here to tell us what she’s been into.
Tickets for Perfectly Imperfect x Suzy Clue ($10)
This Thursday (5/30) in NYC along with very hyped Philly Shoegaze band Her New Knife, Doug from TAGABOW (DJ), and Troy Gipson (DJ).

🎶 el sabr gamel by mama ftouni
this song gets me every time. the singer takes her time revealing the words, leaning slightly behind the beat in a deliriously satisfying way. the beat feels stoic and steady, while she sings, with very direct words, exactly how mistreated and betrayed she has been by her lover. and she goes in on him too. slowly enunciating the words to emphasize her anger yet her voice remains strong and elegant throughout the song. it makes me feel connected to the power of being a woman.
🐚 puka shell necklaces
summer is the best season. the beach is where angels live. enter puka shells, the lovechild of sexy summer memories. my favorite vibe. i like to wear them in any season so that i always keep the energy of the summertime with me everywhere i go. plus they have protective energy to them. and puka is a cute word. win win win.
💃 dancing
i love moving my waist like water. literally nothing better than shaking ass. its so good for you. for the mind, body, soul, self esteem. its the physical manifestation of music and that is so beautiful to me it makes me cry. dancing is so inevitable. if i had the money, i would take classes every single day. britney spears and shakira are my religion.
🏙️ times square
i think the bright lights are good for you. they are energizing. mesmerizing. the crowd, the billboards, the people walking around in random elmo and superhero costumes, its sick as fuck. i love the chaos. plus how can i not love the place that will be projecting a sexy oiled-up suzy clue photo on a massive billboard. thank you times square <3.
