Cool people like cool things, which is why we asked Dasha Nekrasova to share some recommendations on Perfectly Imperfect.

Dasha Nekrasova is a New York City based actress, shitposter, filmmaker, podcaster, and writer. You might know her from the very popular cultural commentary podcast, Red Scare, that she hosts with Anna Khachiyan. Last year she released her GWFF Best First Feature award winning directorial debut, The Scary of Sixty-First, starring Betsey Brown and Madeline Quinn, and played Kendall Roy’s Crisis PR rep, Comfrey, in Season 3 of HBO’s Succession. She also starred in, and co-wrote, Eugene Kotlyarenko’s 2018 cult classic Wobble Palace. Lucky for us, Dasha is here to tell us what she’s been into.

👼 📔 Penance

You should only do this if you’re really feeling sorrow for your sins, otherwise I wouldn’t recommend. But if you do - you’re gonna wanna get a MUJI notebook, pray a lot and write down basically every bad thing you can remember doing (or that you’ve done since the last time you went to confession) Then go tell a validly ordained priest and get back in the state of grace. Don’t think too obsessively about how everything you do is wrong, cus that’s called “scrupulosity” and its actually an impediment to grace. But don’t be too easy on yourself and think everything is OK because you’re basically good and haven’t done anything “really bad” because there’s not one person alive who is without sin so what makes you so great? Once you do this you might feel an impulse to be really proud of yourself, inevitably leading you right back to - you guessed it - sin. You’ll be shocked how quickly you can fall from grace, but the good news is you can do more penance if you really love God and he actually loves you too and totally wants you to be sanctified.

💆 Chanel “Les Beiges” Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream

Back when I had a publicist, which I would also recommend if you have to do publicity, I was simply drowning in Chanel beauty products. They were mailing that stuff to me like it was nothing and I was loving it at first but then the foundations were piling up and the moisturizer was so fragrant. The cosmetics were top notch and one product in particular is the bronzing cream, which I rub all over my eye sockets up to the brow line to play up my stunning Slavic under eye circles. You will look like you got some sun but also like you have hemophilia, which is aristocratic.

🌻 🥀 Having Flowers Around

Having plants and flowers in your apartment is a great way to cultivate some charm in your life. It’s just nice, motivates domesticity, and you can even be a little more messy because it’s romantic.

🙏 Kakure Kirishitan

The “hidden” or “Crypto-Catholics” of Japan, who practiced their faith in secrecy after Christianity was banned in the 17th century. Really just an interest of mine, for obvious reasons. They encrypted Buddhist ephemera with Catholic symbolism and kinda did things their own way. They were mostly in Nagasaki, which was later known as the Rome of Japan, due to the high concentration of Catholics there before Harry Truman (Freemason) killed them with an atomic bomb. Isn’t that such a Freemason thing to do? And why don’t people talk about it more?

🏨 🛌 HotelTonight App

HotelTonight is an app where you can book hotels for cheaper prices last minute. I love staying in hotels, especially ones with crown molding. I used to use it way more, basically pathologically, because I lived in a tenement building and am a frivolous and impulsive person. I like my apartment now, but every once in a while I’ll fire it up if I just need to get away from it all, or there are too many clothes on top of my bed and I don’t want to sleep under them or push them onto the floor and make my life harder. During the pandemme the hotels were so cheap, but as you can imagine there has been steady decline in the hospitality industry, due to the economy ( Still, its nice to sleep in a king size bed and watch Shark Tank on TV.
