#149: 1000 Kisses (and new PI Merch!!)
Ryan and Rebecca drop in to tell us about Li Ning Sneakers, The "North Shore Beefs" Facebook Page, DIY Tattoos, Nancy Drew Games, and more.
Twelve years ago Ryan and I met while skateboarding in Massachusetts. Our lives have changed quite a bit in that time, and we lost touch here & there, but eventually we both ended up in New York City and we’re better friends than ever. Ryan is now an animator & illustrator and his girlfriend Rebecca is a tattoo artist, and earlier this year they started making 1of1 hand-drawn shirts under the name 1000 Kisses, so it only made sense to cook up some Perfectly Imperfect merch with the homies. We went for something “Live Laugh Love”-y and the star has a cute 1000 Kisses flair, I love it.
Perfectly Imperfect x 1000 Kisses t-shirts and totes are available now @ shop.perfectlyimperfect.fyi. Keep in mind that each shirt is made to order, so they won’t ship for a few weeks, but trust me, the wait will be worth it. For a BTS peek, check out this video Ryan made👇
Ryan and Rebecca have great taste and lucky for us, they’re here to tell us what they’ve been into.
Without further ado

Revel access is awesome, maybe not the best time but come spring we’re all going to be ripping. The access program is for anyone who is eligible or actively participating in any local, state, or federally administered assistance program. That's right, you got metro health too? You’re in. 50% off all revel rides, and you can cop it for a whole day for like $10.
😶🌫️ 🌿 Puff Co peak
The Peak is great, all electronic dab rig, comes with a case and everything. No need to stink up your house with bud or have to use a sketchy torch… Just press the button twice and that's it. I’m also pretty sure it connects to your phone, but I haven’t gotten that far yet. Its true cross between being a weed connoisseur and smoking an NFT. A bit pricey but I haggled with the guy at the local smoke shop for one.
A dastardly meeting of the minds brought together by @pumpkinnguts, @nicobonaquist, and @orderbydisorder. They bring together DIY artists and DJs every month for a flea market and after party (darkmart). Bring your friends and fat wad of cash.
Always really loved the Kiko Asics but damn are they expensive (probably worth it, but still). Which is why I'm super pumped I found LI-NING badminton shoes. 100% not up to the quality of some Kikos given that they’re hot off AliExpress. But damn, crazy colorways, weird patterns, and decently comfy. I feel like they were prop shoes for a 90s movie about 2022.
I had a friend introduce me to this years ago and it’s really gained a fair amount of traction since. It's a facebook group where people from the North Shore of Massachusetts rate, review, and share pictures of roast beef sandwiches. There's just something so unreal about the whole thing, especially with the amount of acronyms and depth to these reviews. It's also really funny that over 20,000 guys from MA will base their personality off a sandwich. I will say, the sandwich is bomb… If you're ever in Massachusetts (for whatever godforsaken reason) and you want a good roast beef sandwich, hit up the page or go to a roast beef shop with an angry Greek lady behind the counter.

got my nipples pierced in september and the healing process hasn’t been easy (it's been really hard not to futz with them), recently got these swabs and they've looked better than they have in the past 2 months, seriously, the saline spray isn’t enough get these swabs
young hugh grant and peter capaldi star in this weird ass late 80s british movie based on a 1911 novel by bram stoker (also wrote dracula) in which an archeologist (capaldi) discovers the skeleton of a giant worm creature which is featured in the town’s mythology. while investigating some local disappearances it becomes apparent that the ancient worm might be to blame and that a mysterious lady might be summoning it with virgin sacrifices. crazy cool early green screen, awesome costumes, low quality creatures and acting, what’s not to love?
🖊️ 💉 diy tattoos
i started hand-poke tattooing full-time in october after starting in 2020 when i realized literally anything can be a tattoo, and i cannot recommend dipping your toe into the culture and community of diy tattooing enough. the friends i’ve made who also love off-beat designs and scrappy, fun tattoos are pushing boundaries on what tattoos can be, and i am so incredibly grateful to have these people in my life. i have yet to step foot in a traditional tattoo shop and i thank god for that (love trad style, hate the largely macho culture). i’ll try to narrow down my recs to 5 within brooklyn: @stabs_bylili @julessportif @5_htpblanketsong @coolfriendtattoos.png @dastardly_child (and myself i guess lol @hidden_object__), but please just look for yourself, there are so many cool people doing cool things
📺 very early videos on youtube
these videos project me back to another time and make me realize just how similar we are to past generations, yet so different. plots and gimmicks are intergenerational, styles are not. i recommend watching while a little high and with an open mind.
🛠️ 🤝 trading for goods and services
if you have a special skill, if you make things, you can possibly barter for items or help of equal value, without having to spend “money” (lol), feels better
🎮 nancy drew games
these point and click computer mystery/puzzle games were very formative for me and still go so hard but i have not been able to play in years bc they have not updated their software for like any new OS :,^( if anyone knows of a good emulator or has an old pc laptop they don’t need please lmk
